Taichi Kitamura owner and chef of Sushi Kappo Tamura filets fish at his Eastlake sushi mecca on a daily basis. But can he filet Bobby Flay? Kitamura will be featured on the March 5 episode of Beat Bobby Flay on the Food Network. The Kyoto-born Kitamura will be pitted against global cuisine chef David deCastro in the season four premiere titled "Global Relations." The season premiere will air at 10 pm on Thursday, March 5 and rerun at 1 am on Friday, March 6.
The judges for the episode, who are choosing the chef who they think can beat Bobby Flay in a cook off, are cookbook author and television personality Giada De Laurentiis and Cleveland celebrity chef and Iron Chef Michael Symon. Both are regulars on the Food Network.
The winner between Kitamura and deCastro moves on to compete against Flay in a cooking challenge of their choice.
The normally outspoken and loquacious Kitamura remains mum about the shows details and outcome.
Kitamura opened Sushi Kappo Tamura in July 2010 in Seattle’s Eastlake neighborhood. He owned and operated Chiso in Fremont until 2010 before opening Sushi Kappo Tamura. He earned his sushi chops at I Love Sushi on Lake Union.
