Capitol Hill is going to have its very own Kukai Ramen & Izakaya. As CHS reported last September, the international noodle chain would be moving into the Three20 Apartments at 320 E. Pine. Beyond that fact, however, details have been scarce.
Turns out, the new location is set to open in late March, according to Yekta Levent, Kukai Ramen’s district manager. Yekta says they were actually shooting for an earlier opening date, but due to labor strikes at U.S. international ports, there were delays in importing much of the interior décor from Japan.
"All the important stuff is in, all construction done," says Yekta. He also explained how the Capitol Hill location would have basically the same authentic ramen menu as their Bellevue and Northgate spots, only with an expanded bar program. "More drinks. More alcohol."
The space itself is also an upgrade from the other, more strip mall locations. "It looks amazing. Same architecture and design, only fancier."
While Yekta is confident in the late March date, he admits circumstances with customs could push back the opening. Check back for updates.
