Daniel Humm at Canlis; Wolfgang Puck at EMP; More

UPPER QUEEN ANNECanlis has all kinds of high-profile chef events in the works. On November 21 chef Daniel Humm from Manhattan's Eleven Madison Park will be cooking a meal with chef Jason Franey. Seats are $250 but there's a special rate for industry folks. Why this is a big deal: 1. EMP just earned three Michelin stars and won the James Beard Outstanding Restaurant Award this year. 2. Franey spent six years cooking under Humm at EMP and at San Francisco's Campton Place. Consider this a mentor-mentee reunion. Humm and EMP manager Will Guidara will be in town promoting their new cookbook. Call the restaurant for deets. [Canlis, EaterWire]

LOWER QUEEN ANNE—On a totally different EMP note, Chris Werner has the latest in the ongoing drama that is Pop Kitchen, the new restaurant inside Experience Music Project. Wolfgang Puck's catering arm has taken over the restaurant, though it remains an independent concept. [Seattle Met]

BALLARDThe Geeky Swedes say that The Lady Bug Cafe has opened its doors on 15th Avenue. It is, no surprise, the building that's painted red with black spots. Doors open super early (4:45 a.m.) to offer coffee to early commuters. [My Ballard]

INTERNATIONAL DISTRICTHanna Raskin checks out new Japanese sweet shop Umai-Do, which is "filling a void that had nagged at mochi fans since Sagamiya closed in the early 1970s." Raskin finds the imogashi a little dry, but loves her some "bendy mochi." [Seattle Weekly]
