BALLARD—The Geeky Swedes say that The Fat Hen will have its soft opening this week. The restaurant that moved into the former home of A Caprice Kitchen is run by Seattle native Linnea Gallo and her Italian-born husband Massimo. What to expect: lots of house-made items and local sourcing. [My Ballard]

BALLARD—More news from the Geeky Swedes: Bad Albert's Tap & Grill will reopen this week. Twin brothers (and lifetime Ballard residents) Shawn and Cory Rockey bought the beloved pub from previous owner Steve Katsandres, and have added red and white wine on tap, as well as a new wooden bar.

CAPITOL HILL8 oz. Burger Bar, the Govind Armstrong concept burger bar, will open in November. Currently, Kevin Chung and other members of his management team have been conducting field research(aka eating burgers from the competition). [Twitter/Facebook]
