Terra Plata owner and chef Tamara Murphy tells Eater that the long awaited restaurant will open its doors to the public today at 5 pm. She later added that, tomorrow was the intended opening date. But, "stop by TONIGHT for dinner and drinks if you want to get in before the rush". Diners should expect "earth to plate", Mediterranean influenced cuisine. She recently told the Puget Sound Business Journal's GlennDro that, "We’re not Spanish. We’re not Italian. It’s about what’s fresh and what we feel like cooking that day. The menu will always be changing, always evolving".
Murphy has been hosting a series of friends and family previews at the restaurant in the past couple of weeks. If Terra Plata's opening seems inevitable now, its chances of opening seemed dubious last year. Murphy overcame a complicated legal dispute with the developer to open Terra Plata in the Melrose Market.
