Heather Earnhardt, co-owner and head baker at Volunteer Park Cafe, will leave the cafe to teach baking classes and provide consulting services, according to a cafe representative. Volunteer Park Cafe recently overcame one of the biggest challenges in its five year history, the fight to change its permitted use from grocery to a restaurant. Ericka Burke, the head chef and Earnhardt's business partner, will take over some of the baking. Burke will be assisted by two Earnhardt proteges: Kouka "Nana" Kaborke, who has been baking at the cafe for over four years and Emily Weeks, who started earlier this year.
