OTHELLO—Hanna Raskin says that Whistle Stop Co-op, the Othello neighborhood's first espresso bar, will celebrate its grand opening this weekend. Married co-owners Mona Lee and Dick Burkhart serve up pastries, sandwiches, parfaits and Zoka coffee. They have been open for about two months. Whistle Stop is celebrating its grand opening tomorrow with a patio performance by the Nzira Marimba Band and free food samples. The program starts at 1 p.m. [Seattle Weekly]
I-5 High 5—Quick note from the I-5 column last week: The previously announced collaborative dinner between Sitka & Spruce's Matt Dillon and Ned Ludd's Jason French has been postponed. French tells Eater Portland that the event will be rescheduled at Seattle's (indoor!) Corson Building for sometime in mid-December. More details as they become available. [EaterWire]
