Sea_Shepherd_Bob_Barker_Japanese_Whaling.jpgJapanese whalers filed suit against Seattle-based Sea Shepherd Conservation Society "to legally force the anti-whalers to stop harassing the country’s whaling fleet," according to the Wall Street Journal. Eight years ago, Sea Shepherd began surveying the annual hunt with the aim of preventing the Japanese from catching whales. Paul Watson, Sea Shepherd's founder, appears unfazed by the suit: "“I’m not even concerned about it. It’s a frivolous lawsuit that doesn’t have any merit. The Japanese whalers have this $30 million they got from the tsunami earthquake fund and they have us on everything – security boats, hiring heavyweight PR firms and now they’re using litigation as a weapon."
