The Pine Box Replaces The Chapel Bar in Funeral Home

A new beer-centric bar called The Pine Box will occupy the Capitol Hill space recently vacated by The Chapel Bar, says Seattle Beer News. Ian Roberts, a founder of Seattle Beer Week and previously Brouwer's Bar Manager, heads up the venture along with friends Dean Hudgins and Mark Eskridge. Roberts is unsentimental about Chapel's charms: "If you’ve ever been into the old Chapel space you’ve been to the closest thing to a German disco this side of the Rhine. We’re purging that feeling as we rid the space of lasers, bubble machines, and giant white pleather couches. We want to bring the original charm of the historic 1920?s building back, while adding a bunch of kick-ass beer in the process.”

Roberts tells Capitol Hill Seattle that he will have 30 beers on tap and "lots of brown liquor." According to CHS, Roberts plans to serve pizzas and other pub grub. Pine Box expects a Spring 2012 opening.
