D'Ambrosio Gelato, which currently has a shop in Ballard, will expand to Capitol Hill for its second location, says Capitol Hill Seattle. The gelateria will take over the corner spot at 12th and Pine left vacant by Varro, which suffered the shortest restaurant/bar life of 2011(~ three months) by our account.
Owner Marco D'Ambrosio tells CHS, "Capitol Hill is the most vibrant part of the city to me." Vis a vis the Ballard shop, the Capitol Hill one will be slightly bigger, will offer more gelato flavors, and more vegan options. Apparently D'Ambrosio is not superstitious, as he currently plans to keep the giant La Dolce Vita mural left behind by Varro.
