Kafe Berlin, a German cafe, held a grand opening earlier this week, according to their Facebook page. Tony's of Bellingham, WA roasts their espresso and coffee. Capitol Hill Seattle visited the cafe and finds them serving "German sausages, a variety of panini and Euro sandwiches, pastries from Little Prague Bakery in West Seattle as well as turnovers and cinnamon rolls baked onsite." CHS says that hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 5 am to 4 pm and 8 am to 4 pm on weekends.
Yes, they had to get special allowances to look that German. The Landmarks Preservation Board may have given them more latitude, since they are located on the first floor of the German Heritage Society building.
