Earlier this month, we told you about Quinn's recruiting Jeremy Ravetz as chef de cuisine away from San Francisco's Michael Mina. Here's an email from Ravetz explaining his decision to move to Seattle and to Quinn's:
My wife (who is also from here) and I had a baby about 3 weeks before we re-opened Michael Mina in San Francisco. Over the year I ran that restaurant it became apparant that the problem of balancing work and personal life was never going to get easier running a restaurant of that scope and profile. It's really the classic chef's problem. Anyway, I chose work for a year, now I'm choosing family.
We also asked him about why he chose Seattle: "As to why Seattle, both of our families are here and that closeness and support eases a little of the pressures of raising a kid, at least for first time parents like us. And as for why Quinn's, well RN already has a chef. I've loved this restaurant since it opened, and when Scott [Staples] and Regan[Vaughn] and I started talking, it just seemed like a good fit." Ravetz tells us that he's still looking for a sous chef at Quinn's, if any one's looking.
