Caffe Ladro, a local chain of coffee shops, has stepped up its specialty coffee game by bringing in Intelligentsia muscle, says coffee news/gossip site Sprudge. Beginning January 2012, all Ladro coffee will be roasted in-house under the direction of Jared Linzmeier, formerly Intelligentsia Coffee and Tea's Northwest rep and head roaster Dismas Smith. Chalk this up as a loss for Bellingham-based "char merchants" Tony's Coffee, who used to provide Ladro with their beans. [Sprudge]
