Early reports from Cuoco, the new South Lake Union pasta house from restaurateur extraordinaire Tom Douglas, are coming in strong. Food writer-about-town Leslie Kelly recapped her soft opening dinner for Seattle Weekly and served up an F-bomb in her praise of rolled-in-plain-sight pasta and the "potpourri of offal" she enjoyed. However the most intriguing part her account? The fact that the typeface used on the menu is a special font created directly from the handwriting of T-Doug himself. Do Douglas employees have to write internal memos and such in this new font as well?
Now that Cuoco is up and running, watch for the other two new Douglas restaurants housed in the historic Terry Avenue Building, Ting Momo and Brave Horse Tavern, to open soon--perhaps even later this week.
