After being softly open over the weekend, Stopsky's Delicatessen is officially serving up traditional Jewish deli fare and Mercer Island's only Stumptown coffee as of this morning. Chef Robin Leventhal heads up the kitchen and Canlis alum and Columbia City Bakery co-founder Andrew Meltzer is baking up batches of bagels, challah and such with the help of his Dutchess press. Early reports are already circulating about the pastrami, matzoh ball soup, latkes benedict and other upscale deli staples. Right now Stopsky's is open for breakfast, weekend brunch and lunch (both dine in and carry out at the deli counter) but Leventhal says dinner service should kick off next month.
