Jess Voelker follows up on her major news with an interview with Murray Stenson, in which he explains why he's leaving Zig Zag Cafe for RN74 Seattle. Apparently the bar's burgeoning popularity and the resulting crowds have taken their toll on the acclaimed bartender. He tells Voelker, “I’m looking to simplify. I'm really old, and Zig Zag is a young man’s bar.”
It remains to be seen how Stenson's appeal will play out in the more sedate environs of RN74 Seattle. Fortunately the cocktail set won't have to wait too long. Michael Mina's long-awaited restaurant is slated to open its doors around June 13.
