WOW. Jess Voelker over at Seattle Met breaks some huge news ? Murray Stenson is leaving Zig Zag Cafe to join the team at Michael Mina's upcoming RN74 Seattle. She promises more details are forthcoming.
Stenson, proclaimed the nation's top bartender last year and recipient of pretty much every other accolade in the bartending world, is a fixture at Zig Zag. Just last month New York Times writer Frank Bruni declared him "a hoot." His move over to one of the year's most high-profile projects is a big coup for RN74 Seattle and all but ensures a built-in client base for the restaurant's bar area. This could also change the restaurant's identity as a wine-focused establishment, at least among local booze nerds. Good thing Mina designed the space to have a larger lounge than its San Francisco counterpart.
