Stopsky's Delicatessen's Post-Leventhal Kitchen Lineup

In the wake of Robin Leventhal's recent departure from Stopsky's Delicatessen, sous chef Shane Robinson has moved into the top spot in the kitchen. Owner Jeff Sanderson says Robinson developed the Mercer Island deli's corned beef, pastrami, knishes and "signature salami," which is just a great turn of phrase. Before coming to Stopsky's, he was executive chef at Fremont's The Leary Traveler.

As for the situation with Leventhal, Sanderson says the former Top Chef contestant and Crave chef/owner "did a great job of helping us launch," but ultimately the parting was a matter of "operational differences." Stopsky's, which has been insanely busy since opening last month, has brought on Austin Zimmerman as sous chef. Zimmerman was previously the executive sous chef at the Hotel Deca in the U-District.
