La Carta de Oaxaca Team Expanding to Queen Anne?

A Oaxacan spot is taking over shuttered burger restaurant Flame, and it looks like the place might be affiliated with Ballard phenom La Carta de Oaxaca. Rumors to that effect have been percolating for the past few months.

What is apparent at this point: the place will be called Mezcaleria Oaxaca. The ownership, according to the liquor license application, is the generic-sounding Seattle Investment Network, Inc., which is listed on La Carta de Oaxaca's Facebook page.

Back in February, Flame moved two doors down, sharing a space with Elliott Bay Pizza Co. A Carta de Oaxaca offshoot, or even a separate concept offering mole negro and other fare in the same league as the perpetually packed original, would be a huge score for the neighborhood.
