We know Momiji, the forthcoming Japanese restaurant from the Umi Sake House and Kushibar team will boast some beautiful craftsmanship and a spectacular courtyard. Jess Voelker, however, scores some details on the food. Kyoto-inspired Momiji will offer a slightly less-formal take on multi-course kaiseki dining. Yes, there will be a sushi bar as well.
Obviously Voelker was going to ask about the booze situation. Umi GM Cody Burns is moving to Momiji to head up the bar program, his "true love." And there will be a happy hour, hopefully along the lines of Umi's excellent version. Owner Steven Han and his team are busy doing a total overhaul of the Dawson Plumbing Co. building on 12th Avenue. Target opening: September.
