Bluebird ice cream hath put forth more details about its expansion to Phinney Ridge. Earlier this week the tiny Capitol Hill shop announced it was expanding to both Fremont and Phinney with new "microcreameries." The Phinney location will share a building with the Caffe Vita that opened earlier this year and, according to PhinneyWood, a new pizza place called Cornuto Pizzeria. In fact, a large, shared outdoor patio will stretch along the back of these venues.
The location will also be home to Bluebird's new small-batch brewing, of both fancy sodas and actual ales. These will ultimately be poured over ice cream for beer floats, but owner Josh Reynolds says patrons could also stop in and fill a growler. The spots Reynolds has selected in both Fremont and Phinney Ridge have plenty of other food destinations nearby and, especially in the case of Greenwood Avenue, a bunch more on the way. Fremont Universe ran a nice interview with Reynolds today for anyone wanting to get better acquainted with the company and its small-batch ice cream.
