SODO—The actual brewing equipment at Pyramid Alehouse has sat unused for the past few years, but the company is seeking a brewer to produce small batches of test beers. This is part of the company's announcement that it will return to some of its original beer names and branding from the days before Pyramid was sold to Magic Hat Brewing Co. [SBN]
BALLARD—My Ballard brings us up to speed on the neighborhood's openings and closings: Sunny Teriyaki has shut down; Thai Thani is open in the former Subway location at Ballard & Leary, and a restaurant named Burger Hero is keeping the legacy alive at the former Lunchbox Laboratory location. [My Ballard]
IN BARS—Hanna Raskin gets all scientific, dispatching two Seattle Weekly interns ? one male; one female ? to ask for a "bartender's choice" drink and see if one gender gets all lemon drops, the other Manhattans. Seattle's bartenders don't appear to be sexist, but Raskin says her experiment "does prove that the operative word in 'bartender's choice' is bartender." [Seattle Weekly]
REDMOND—Patch says Zeek's Pizza is opening a location in the Red 160 complex. The chainlet's 10th store hopes to open late August or early September. [Kirkland Patch]
PORTLAND—Jess Voelker says "local curd conjurer" and excellent author Kurt Timmermeister will soon be selling his Dinah's cheese in Portland. The oozy camembert-style rounds will start appearing down south in August. Oh, and he's writing a second book! [Seattle Met]
