Though it's in the throes of friends and family nights this week, Bar del Corso will officially open July 12, bringing wood-fired pizza to a neighborhood light on dining options. As Nancy Leson notes in a recent interview, Jerry Corso may not be a household name (yet) but people in the industry hold him in high regard, and have been anticipating his pizza-focused restaurant for some time.
Corso's background includes working in the kitchens of Harvest Vine, Crow and Betty, as well as time living and working in Italy. He and partner Gina Tolentino took over the former Beacon Pub and have been overhauling the space, letting in more light and installing a custom-built pizza oven that arrived safely from Italy, only to have a bit of a mishap on its way inside the building.
