Shophouse, the Monday night Thai pop-up restaurant, was one unfortunate casualty of Licorous making way for Jamie Boudreau's new bar Canon. But...good news. Wiley Frank, sous chef at Lark, and his wife Poncharee Kounpungchart, aka PK, will bring back the popular weekly dinners starting August 29. La Bete duo Tyler Moritz and Aleks Dimitrijevic are turning over their kitchen and dining room to Shophouse on Monday nights.
Not that Shophouse has been in hiding lately; Wiley and PK have been serving up "stripped down street fare" at the Columbia City Farmers Market every Wednesday, and will continue doing so through October.
The new Shophouse menu is still in flux, according to Frank, but he's excited to work in a kitchen with a "quite a bit of firepower" compared with the tiny quarters at Licorous. He says, "expect some smoking woks to make phad phet, phad gra prao and other various stir fries. There is also a grill, we hope to do some whole grilled fish and other seafood with a few simple sauces." Watch Shophouse's Facebook page for more updates on the menu and other details.
