MERCER ISLAND—Kurt Dammeier of Beecher's et al has been taking a lot of media calls of late. He tells Hanna Raskin that Beecher's NYC has developed a signature cocktail?a martini made with grilled-cheese-infused vodka. Yep, that's a real thing. This drink will be making its way to Dammeier's Mercer Island restaurant Bennett's Pure Food Bistro as early as next week. [Seattle Weekly]
SEATTLE CENTER/MEALS ON WHEELS—Tequila brand Camarena is promoting its wares by way of a taco truck. The vehicular taco tour is stopping in Seattle, and Yajaira Carreon, chef at Maple Leaf Mexican restaurant/tequileria Coa developed the list of (tequila-infused) tacos to be dished out for free. The truck debuts this weekend at the Seattle Cigar Expo (whose surprisingly good food offerings include Crush chef Jason Wilson, El Gaucho and Skillet Diner) and will be showing up around the city through mid-September. Check out Jess Voelker's ruminations on this new trend of food trucks as marketing tools. [EaterWire]
CAPITOL HILL—The latest happy hour news comes from Marination Station. Weekdays from 2-5 p.m. you can buy two tacos or sliders and get a third free. Also: $2 Primo beers. And a patio on which to drink them. [EaterWire]
