Today The Chieftain pub opens its doors on 12th Avenue, giving the Seattle University neighborhood a permanent (and boozy) reminder of the University mascot retired in 2000 since it's rather un-PC. However owner Peter Johnson says the name is more of an homage to Ireland and its chieftains of yore. Either way the former Doc Hastings location is now an Irish pub. [CHS]
