WEST SEATTLE—Drinking doyenne Jess Voelker says the Washington State Liquor Control Board's first-ever "premier" store opens today in West Seattle. The Junction got the nod because of its "high median income," and the fact that the neighborhood apparently spends liberally on booze. A second upscale, non-depressing liquor store is in the works for "an undisclosed urban area" somewhere in Washington. [Seattle Met]
SODO—Local brewery Two Beers Brewing will debut its Fresh Hop 2011 beer on Friday at its SoDo tasting room. Why is this a big deal? Because very few places in the country, nay, the world are located close enough to fresh hops to make this beer a reality. Breweries must use hops less than 24 hours after harvesting. Two Beers says its version will be the first available in Seattle this season; the tasting room opens at 3 p.m. on Friday and both drafts and 22-ounce bottles will be available throughout the city as of September 5. MONTLAKE—Chris Werner says neighborhood institution Cafe Lago is serving brunch as of last weekend. The menu involves pizzas, calzones, some eggs, an oven and prices of $11 and less. [Seattle Met]
CAPITOL HILL—Lark's excellent $28 menu is back for Labor Day. Here's what you'll be eating if you stop in over the weekend. [EaterWire]
