How Tan Vinh spent his summer: drinking margaritas at assorted bars and restaurants. The common thread amongst his samplings is agave nectar or agave syrup. Per Vinh, swapping this in for orange liqeur qualifies as a Tommy's Margarita, named for its San Francisco originator. You can find variations at Naga Lounge, Earls, Poquitos and Milagro Cantina. Ba Bar's Evan Martin only does them by request. It's a different flavor profile than a regular margarita, says Vinh. "It goes down easy. Too easy if you're not careful."
