WEST SEATTLE—Starting September 24, chef Jacob Wiegner's Blackboard Bistro is swapping weekday lunch service for weekend brunch. The menu includes basics like brown sugar baked oatmeal, more involved fare like a corned beef and sweet potato hash, and a slider of the day. Brunch runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. [EaterWire]
BALLARD—Fall means a new season of weekly dinners, special menus, etc. So here's one: Bastille is bringing back its Monday night mussels as of September 26. The preparation changes weekly for the $14 bowls, but it's available every Monday throughout the restaurant. Of note: the mussels are from bivalve darling Taylor Shellfish Farms. [EaterWire].
MERCER ISLAND—Chris Werner says local chainlet Zaw (which just opened a new Wallingford location) is expanding outside the city limits. Namely, to Mercer Island. The take-and-bake pizza shop is hoping to open in late October in Tabit Village Square. [Seattle Met]
CAPITOL HILL—Now it's Jess Voelker bringing the pizza news: Capitol Hill New York-style pizzeria Big Mario's starts delivering September 19. That's Monday. And if you order on a Thursday, it will be delivered by Big Mario himself, a promise which begs images of unfortunate male strippers, but sounds cool nonetheless. [Seattle Met]
