Nathan and Rebecca Lockwood have issued an official opening date of October 5 for Altura. The seasonal Italian restaurant will do a la carte dining, as well as "Italian-style" dinners of three to five courses. The centerpiece of the room will be a large carved oak chef's table, that can fit six to 10 people.
Altura's arrival on the north end of Broadway is part of a microburst of exciting restaurant projects happening along the Capitol Hill corridor. Per the release, the restaurant's host stand and wine cabinetry are made from wood reclaimed from the old Jade Pagoda right across the street. Of course, the legendary Chinese restaurant/dive is the new home of Bako, also opening the first week of October.
