KCTS announced yesterday that they have hired urban gardner and cook extraordinaire Amy Pennington to host Check, Please! Northwest. Check, Please! Northwest is a public television produced dine and converse show that first launched in Chicago. Two months ago, KCTS announced that the show would be coming to Seattle and that they were seeking a telegenic host. And, now they've found Ms. Pennington.
Pennington tells us she finalized the arrangement on Monday. The Urban Pantry and Apartment Gardening author said that friends have urged her to try out for the Food Network, but she didn't feel it would be a good fit. When this KCTS opportunity came about, Pennington(a huge fan of public television) felt this would be a much better showcase for her. "I'm thrilled to have Amy as host of Check, Please! Northwest" says series creator and executive producer David Manilow. “She's smart, funny and fun, and she knows Seattle’s restaurant and food scene inside and out. She'll be fantastic!"
The first episode airs on March 8 at 7 p.m. on KCTS 9. Check, Please! Northwest is still looking for guests to suggest their favorite restaurants and appear on the show.
