Two months ago, Eater published the rumor from a highly-placed source, who said that multiple-Beard winner Tom Douglas was opening a steak-focused diner in the new Amazon campus planned for Downtown. Now, Douglas confirms to Seattle Times that he is planning to open four places in the Downtown Amazon campus centered around 6th & Lenora. The steak-based diner concept noted by Eater's tipster sounds remarkably similar to the (unnamed) restaurant portion of Grange Hall, a spot that will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
In addition to the restaurant, Douglas plans to operate a bakery, a cafe, and an "urban market' with T-Doug's own line of prepared foods. As with Amazon buying its SLU campus, this is a big bet on the city of Seattle, placed by a restaurateur that knows it very well. The current roster of Tom Douglas spots(a baker's dozen by some counts) are all clustered in Downtown and South Lake Union. The Douglas quartet will open in the Via6 apartment complex in Spring 2013.
