The planning nerds over at The American Planning Association recently named Beacon Hill one of the ten great neighborhoods in the U.S. If there was a ding on the happening hood, it may have been a lack of bars. And, that's about to get fixed. After a long struggle (with anti-bar neighbors even), Beacon Hill Blog reports that The Oak finally opened last night. The Oak's owners also operate Capitol Hill dive bar favorite Redwood. The bar is located at 3019 Beacon Ave. S., formerly the home of Sharon's Lutong Bahay and Manila Video. The Oak joins Tippe and Drague, which opened in the area, just over a month ago.
