New MOHAI Will Include Compass Café

The new Museum of History and Industry will make its debut December 29th in the refurbished Naval Reserve Buidling at the south end of Lake Union, and when it does, it will include a restaurant called the Compass Café.

The menu, still being finalized, will offer coffee and light meals in a 700-square-foot space wth views of Lake Union and the Space Needle. Said Leonard Garfield, MOHAI's exec director, "We are so pleased that we could incorporate a café" into the project. The interior was also designed with history in mind; the café's bar was built using repurposed wood from the historic schooner Wawona,

The café will be operated by Northwest Catering Company, a 20-year-old company headed by chef David Thelin, which also has a retail outlet in Madison Park. [EaterWire]
