Ex-Social Worker to Open Madison Kitchen

Some people put themselves through college and grad school by waiting tables or working in kitchens. Jim Goodall was one of them, getting a culinary education first, then running a catering company while he earned degrees in counseling and social work. But he returned to his first love, restaurants, first as a baker, then as a manager for Vios Cafe.

Now, he's just days away from opening his very own place, Madison Kitchen , which replaces Park Place Deli next to the pharmacy at the corner of 42nd and E. Madison.

On the menu: soups, salads, sandwiches and other takeout staples for family picnics on the beach across the street. The way things are going, an opening before the end of the month looks quite possible.
