Bavarian Meats deli in Pike Place Market, a longtime Tom Douglas fave, opened a small nosheteria over the weekend with seating that looks out on the market crowds.
Known for its German wursts, sausages, wieners and hams made from family's old Munich recipes, it has been retail only until now.
Though there's no menu yet, just ask for the house sandwiches, then throw in some German potato salad or fleischsalat (meat and mayo), sauerkraut, fresh pastries and then wash it all down with German beer or a just-off-the-boat juice. At the end of your order you'll probably get a happy, high-pitched "Ja Ja" from the staff. [EaterWire]
UPDATE: Bavarian Meats confirms they plan to start serving hot foods in mid-January.
