Ahoy! Bait Shop Opens Monday

New, 9 comments

Linda Derschang's nautical-themed bar, Bait Shop, opens Monday. Dotted with globe lights from the Paramount Theater, a 7-foot wall-mounted marlin, and a 1977 Firebird, Bait Shop lives in the old Jade Pagoda building at the north end of Broadway. Hours will be 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., with chef Forrest Brunton's food being served until midnight.

While it ain't Long John Silver's (so says a savvy-written press release), the menu is slightly reminiscent: fish and chips, wedge salad and fried chicken sandwiches, to name just a few items. And if you can't live without your vintage vinyl to go with your retro fish meal, feel free to bring in your old records; Bait Shop will have a record player a few nights a week for folks to take their old tunes for a spin.
