Michael Mina's RN74 announced yesterday that Seisuke Kamimura will take over from Michelle Retallack as executive chef at the Downtown restaurant. After fourteen years in the Mina empire, Retallack is leaving to start a family .
Mina originally met Kamimura, when the latter worked for him at Puck’s flagship restaurant, Spago, in Beverly Hills, Calif. More recently in Puget Sound, Kamimura helped open BOKA Kitchen + Bar, the short-lived Artisanal, and was executive chef at San Francisco’s Postrio restaurant. No big changes to the modern French menu we're told, but the press release contains this tantalizing nugget, "don’t expect Kamimura’s take on these classic dishes to be without bold interpretation."
