We swung by Ballard Coffee Works, and it is now softly open. They had predicted a March 24th opening, so looks like things came together sooner than expected. Expect French Press for the house coffee and a slow bar featuring Chemex and other "slow" methods of preparing coffee for when you have some time to spend. Of course, a slew of espresso drinks are available, as is the wonderfully authentic Travelers Chai.
In the recently aired Seattle episode of Bizarre Foods, Andrew Zimmern was filmed sipping $100/pound coffee at the original slow bar--at Seattle Coffee Works in Downtown. Ballard Coffee Works is the second outlet for Sebastian Simsch and his Coffee Works business.
