The Pine Box softly opens tomorrow March 22nd, and the grand opening will be on March 26th. Co-owner Ian Roberts was previously bar manager at Brouwer's Cafe and is a co-founder of Seattle Beer Week. The Pine Box boasts 33 taps, one of which is a Randal tap. Per Seattle Met's Allecia Vermillion, the Randal is "a contraption that can be filled with hops" or whatever and "imparts an extra blast of flavor based on what’s inside." As for the food, Roberts tells us to expect standard pub fare such as pizza, steak, and meat and cheese plates.
The Pine Box replaces Chapel bar in the retail portion of the renovated Butterworth Funeral Home. The home was the site of Bruce Lee's funeral in 1973. It was renovated in 2002, and Chapel was its longtime tenant--until the bar closed last year.
