Detention, Formerly University District Po Dog, Shutters

New, 1 comment

The Stranger received a tip yesterday that Detention, the U.D. Po Dog from April 2010 to August 2011, has shuttered. We checked in with owner/founder Laura Olson, who is busy opening the Ballard Po Dog today, to confirm the closing.

Olson tells us that Detention has been closed since December 2011: "We closed Detention so we could better position ourselves for growth with the Ballard project. We actually closed back at the end of December and have since sold the restaurant and are subleasing the space to a party who will be doing a teryaki restaurant." The Ballard project Olson refers to involves not only the Ballard Po Dog(which opened today) but the forthcoming restaurant Queen of Norway, an events space, and a speakeasy that will all be located at the 2014 NW Market Street Building.
