Seattle Times' booze columnist Tan Vinh visits fizz-swilling Montana, and declares it to be the "most studied and admired bar at this moment," while acknowledging that "there are bars with better cocktail programs and bars with more pizazz." Vinh admires the consistency and efficiency that can deliver pre-mixed, on-tap cocktails during busy nights. He says that when the bar opened in December 2011, "some of its citrusy cocktails were too tart," and "It's better now." Vinh raves about the sandwiches from next door neighbor, Dinette and praises the kimchi pulled pork and the smoked pastrami as "stellar."
This week, Montana will be adding a French 75 cocktail to their other other on tap offerings, which include Moscow Mules and negronis. Co-bar owner Rachel Marshall(who owns Rachel's Ginger Beer) plans to move her ginger beer production from the Olive Way space to a SoDo facility--which will allow for expanded bar capacity.
