It's official! Food and Wine just announced their 2012 list of the best new chefs in the U.S., and Puget Sound represents with not one but two winners: Blaine Wetzel of Willows Inn and Cormac Mahoney of Madison Park Conservatory. This marks the first time in recent memory that the Puget Sound region has represented with two chefs on the select list of ten. One of the most significant aspects of the Food and Wine nod is that the magazine tends to follow and support their chosen "new" chefs throughout their careers. And, yes--we beat Portland, who has a mere single chef.
Update: Here are the links to Wetzel and Mahoney's official profiles on the Food & Wine website. Mahoney admits to occasionally spiking his morning coffee with Fernet. Wetzel's favorite food blog is Langdon Cook's Fat of the Land.
