Chino's Parts Ways with Bar Manager Evan Martin Amidst Rumors of Sale/Closing

New, 13 comments

After replacing founding bar manager Veronika Groth with Evan Martin last month to head their tiki-centric cocktail menu, Chino's and Evan Martin have abruptly parted ways. On Saturday morning, Martin posted on Facebook that it would be his last shift that night: "Well, just like that, I'm on the job hunt again. It's our last night at Chino's, if you haven't been by, please stop by later tonight, I'll be closing it down." A few minutes later, a friend questions whether Chino's is closing, and Martin responds, "yep, they should be moving to a new location soon with a likely slightly different concept. They sold the current location."

Later that night Canon's Jamie Boudreau asks Martin what's going on, "So I've heard the place has been sold, so is it, or is it not, the last night?" On Sunday morning, Martin answers, "Pretty sure it is, although I got 86'd before the last night for my outrageous comment above so I'm out of the loop." Eater contacted Chino's about whether they were closing and/or relocating, and they declined to comment.
