The Gerald, the newest bar to show up on Ballard Avenue, is the brainchild of Kevin Rothrock and Elliot Westwater, two Garfield High alums. They have decorated the place with modern mid-century furniture. The name refers to the Elephant Gerald, a t-shirt store that previously occupied the space. The bar serves up hand-crafted cocktails like the Old Fashioned and Manhattans. On the food side, comfort items like mac-n-cheese, clams casino, swedish meatballs, and grilled cheese sandwiches predominate.
