It's dog eat dog in treat land. Seattle Magazine reports that Cupcake Royale will begin making its own line of ice cream and will take over (part of) The Chocolate Box in Downtown(where Molly Moon's has been selling its ice cream since last July) for its newest location. Cupcake Royale's owner Jody Hall confirmed to Eater that beginning July 2012, Cupcake Royale will begin hawking Cupcakes 'N' Cream and other "bakeshop inspired flavors" at the new downtown location and all other locations.

We asked whether Cupcake Royale will use an ice cream base, and Hall replied:

With the volume of ice cream we will make, WA dept of AG says that we need to use a base that is pasteurized. We are not using the same base company as Molly. We are working with a dairy that uses local cows that are growth hormone free and customizing a base that's not too sweet from added sugar, and super creamy with naturally sweet cream. The base has clean ingredients as well, something super important to us!
Meanwhile, Seattle Met says that having been ousted from its downtown location, Molly Moon's is planning a partnership with Cupcake Royale's arch-rival, Trophy Cupcakes.
