Renee Erickson Plans New Restaurant, The Whale Wins

Renee Erickson's The Walrus and The Carpenter is not yet two years old but has been widely celebrated. The success of the Ballard oyster bar as well as the steady flow of business from her first restaurant, Boat Street Kitchen, has emboldened Erickson to expand her brand to a third restaurant, which will be called The Whale Wins, reports Seattle Met . The Whale Wins will be located in the mixed use retail and restaurant project called “The Fremont Collective." If that name sounds familiar to you, it is the same building that will house Joule, once their move from Wallingford is complete.

Seattle Met says that The Whale Wins will have a wood-fired oven, and Erickson hopes to deploy it to show off more vegetable-centered dishes. She tells the mag, "We are lucky we can grow so many things here, and I think there needs to be more attention paid to them.” Erickson is in expansionary mode, as she and her business partners announced the launch of The Narwahl, an oyster food truck that will be available for catering and events, earlier this year.
