Beloved sandwich and nosh maker I Love New York Deli has closed in the U.D. says The Stranger. A tipster tells us that the closure happened on May 14, and that the interior has been entirely gutted--no sign of the kitchen sink even. Owner Jon Jacobs could not be reached for comment. Two years ago, Jacobs was in expansionary mode and told Crosscut's Hugo Kugiya about his grand plans for a 24-hour deli on First Hill, which he seems to have abandoned.

If you're craving a reuben on house-baked bread, the original Pike Place Market location(in the Economy Building) remains open.
