On Eater's list of the eight most anticipated bar and restaurant openings for the season, Travis Rosenthal's rum-centered bar Rumba opened in Pike/Pine on Friday, September 14. With its hardback Hemingway collection and aquamarine, Caribbean blue accents, Rumba radiates an upscale, tropical vibe—reminiscent of The Innkeeper, which opened in Belltown late last year. Menus at both places pair rum-forward drinks such as daiquiris with Central/South American and Caribbean dishes such as empanadas, ceviche, and tacos. Though Rumba sits just next door to Rosenthal's stately Spanish tapas restaurant Tango, the dark wood is the only other element the two spots share. The vibe and decor are decidedly different.
