A Second Chance for Ipanema

New, 13 comments

This time around, no kidding, the full name is The Grill from Ipanema. But it's still Marco Cazas Breaux at the helm, and the concept remains Brazilian churrascaria-style steakhouse with tableside rodizio service. The chef is Jared Velasquez (pictured), who has cooked at the old Ipanema, as well as Il Bistro, Avenue One and Volterra.

A soft opening is planned for this weekend.

Marco came on the Seattle scene with long-defunct Madrid 522 and owned Buenos Aires Grill before opening the original Ipanema on Harbor Steps. He went on to launch Club Sur in Sodo, and has now reassembled his loyal, meat-loving crew in Belltown.

The GM at the new Ipanema is Rodney Flores, assisted by Liliana Edwards, both veterans of Club Sur. Behind the bar, leading "Team Caipirinha," is Alberto Meza, who had been helping out at Fumaça just down the street but was happy to move "closer to downtown."
